Frequently Asked Questions

Three convenient locations across Arkansas to serve you better.

Do I need a referral to see a gastroenterologist?

While some insurance plans require a referral, many do not. We recommend checking with your insurance provider. If you do need a referral, your primary care physician can easily submit one to our office.

At what age should I get my first colonoscopy?

Most adults should begin screening at age 45. Depending on your family history or risk factors, your provider may recommend earlier screening.

How do I prepare for a colonoscopy?

Preparation usually includes a clear-liquid diet and prescribed bowel prep the day before your procedure. We provide clear, step-by-step instructions in advance.

Are procedures done under sedation? Will I feel pain?

Most endoscopic procedures are performed with CRNA-administered sedation to help keep you comfortable. Our clinical team monitors you throughout the procedure to support your safety and minimize discomfort.

Does insurance cover colonoscopy screening?

Many insurance plans cover preventive colonoscopy screenings. Coverage details vary by plan, so our team can help verify your benefits before your appointment.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Please bring a photo ID, insurance card, medication list, and any relevant records or referral documents so we can provide the best care.

Do I need a follow-up visit after a colonoscopy or endoscopy?

Yes. A follow-up visit is recommended for continuity of care and to review your detailed results. This allows your provider to discuss procedure findings, pathology results if biopsies were taken, and any next steps in your treatment plan.

Can I drive home after a procedure?

No, you will need someone to drive you home. You should not drive, drink alcohol, or make important decisions for the rest of the day unless your provider gives different instructions.
